First week in St. George

Kathi on the Bear Claw Poppy Trail

Mountain Bike Trails - wouldn't our grandchildren love it here!

Hiking in our backyard

Every where we hike we have this beautiful mountain in the background that is covered with snow!

On our way to our morning hike!

Sports Village Condo's in the background (where we are staying)

Note: The pictures above are pictures that we took on our morning hike. We only walk a block and half from our condo and we can get on numerous hiking trails.

We arrived in St. George on New Years Day around 4:00pm and thanks to the GPS we were able to find our condo quite easily. Upon arrival the first thing we did was turn the thermostat up because it felt pretty cool in the condo. After all the temp outside was in the high 20's. We waited a while and then noticed that it wasn't getting warmer. Well after some investigating by John we ended up running to the store and purchasing new batteries for the thermostat. Problem solved. We have now been in St. George for 7 days and have discovered quite a few hiking trails and bike trails all over the place. However, we are most excited that we can practically walk in our back yard and be out in the foothills with great places to hike. We have also found out that parts of the bike trails have been washed away due to the flooding that was in St. George two weeks ago. Although the water is way down now you can see all over the river banks the damage that it did to the vegetation and biking trails.

Although I have created this blog it will probably not be kept up every day - depending on what we are doing and if we do something new and exciting. Our daily routine so far has been to get up around 6:00 or 6:30 and spend a couple of hours relaxing, reading, cleaning, eating breakfast, and responding to emails. Around 9:00AM we head out to go hiking in Bear Claw Poppy Mountain trails. That usually takes about an 1 to 2 hours - depending what trail we take or how long we want to hike. Although the last several days high has been around 45 the sun is shining and the blues skies are clear of clouds. Weather is great for hiking! Then we come back to the condo and do misc. things and around 1:00PM we either go off biking, hiking, or just sightseeing trying to get a better layout of the area.

  1. Beautiful! After my 14 hours at the pharmacy today I'm ready to head out tomorrow. I'll just have to cool my jets for a few weeks.

    Have fun,

    Gary

  2. Beautiful blog--way to go Kathi! I would love to have just one day like you two are sharing but know I must be patient. Looks like no mowing is needed in your yard and I'm sure John does not need to worry about the lawn back home this time--enjoy! Now on to my project for the day: filing W-2s and figuring 1099s--woo hoo!

  3. I love your blog. Even the background is so neat! Sorry John, that I called while you were bike riding and Kathi wasn't holding up her end, so to speak, because we were talking :-)

    Enjoy!
