Hiking in Snow Canyon - 1-13-2011

Today we did a little site seeing via the car in St. George and then went to a hiking shop.  The gentleman that worked there hikes all over the area and gave us some good tips on places to hike.  From there we headed out to Snow Canyon to do a 4 mile hike in the lava field and white rock area.  From there we also hiked another mile to a different area.  We then got in our car and drove further down into Snow Canyon and hiked 1.5 miles to a beautiful area with gorgeous red rock and a view of a lot of Snow Canyon.  We are looking for places too hike when we have company so that they can see the best trails in Snow Canyon without having to hike to many miles.  Once again we had a beautiful sunny day with the temperatures in the low 50's.  You just can't beat that type of weather when your hiking in Utah.  We also climbed on top of the rocks and had a wonderful lunch that we had packed before we left the condo this morning.

After getting back to our condo John made chicken on the grill and we had a delicious dinner.  We then decided to go for a hike and we hiked another 3 miles up the Bear Claw Poppy trail.  I am tired! lol

We took so many wonderful pictures today so it was hard to leave many of them from the blog!

Relaxing by the frozen pond up on top of the rocks!

View of Snow Canyon from the north end!

This is where we had lunch - once again amazing views of Snow Canyon!

John climbed up as high as he could get to take this picture of Snow Canyon!

Once again John is on a natural high - he is always happy if he can get to the very top!

It was a great day!
